Settlement House

The Cecil County Men's Shelter, Inc.

Settlement House,  also known as the Cecil County Men’s Shelter, is part of the Meeting Ground family of programs and services. Founded in 1986, the Men’s Shelter provides emergency and transitional housing for men who are experiencing a period of homelessness in their lives. The Men’s Shelter is located in downtown Elkton, in walking distance to medical services, social services, and employment opportunities. We not only provide safe shelter, but also assist the men to move toward dependence, greater self sufficiency and increased hope and wholeness. Through referrals to medical and mental health providers, help with a job search or improving education, case management, the hospitality of food and friendship, and individual and small group interaction, we assist those who live at the Men’s Shelter reach their goals for their lives. The Men’s Shelter works closely with the Veteran’s Administration and reserves 10 of our 15 beds for veterans who are experiencing homelessness.

The Men’s Shelter also provides a lunch Monday through Thursday to anyone who is hungry in the community. On average, 40 men, women and children find not just a good meal, but the warmth of friendship as well through this outreach.  Anyone who is hungry is welcome to join us at noon, Monday through Thursday.  Please enter via the alley beside the building.
